laurajv: Holmes & Watson's car is as cool as Batman's (Default)
part one

1. sent in deposit check for chimney repairs (which are going to eat pretty much the entire household repair budget for this calendar year)
2. agreed with spouse re: repairs to elderly car rather than replacing elderly car at this time
3. scheduled maintenance for other, slightly less-elderly car
4. called water authority re: wtf no water at my house??? (answer: planned outage a quarter-mile away is unexpectedly unplanned much larger outage continuing well past end of planned outage, sorry! halfway through a load of laundry? too bad!)

Arrangements made since yesterday:
1. purchase and installation of a dishwasher, and haul-away of old dishwasher which has been broken since December
2. purchase and installation of a water heater, and haul-away of old water heater which needs a repair involving a $300 backordered part. for a water heater not already at EOL I would wait, but not for one whose next trick is likely to be "...and there goes the tank" on account of being elderly.
3. estimate for repair of chimney that is leaking inside the house
