Why I'm surprised, when I know perfectly well from X-Men movie fandom that people cannot tell a rifle from a shotgun, and from Highlander fandom that most people think Glenfiddich is high-end Scotch, I don't really know.
I think a lot of people believe that "revolver" is just a sexier word meaning "handgun", when actually it...carries meaning of its own. Sigh.
I see a lot of carry over from the books that is refuted by simple observation of the series. My guess is a few of these folks haven't actually seen it.
Or just don't know what the proper names of certain things are. Commoner failing than I'd like, though surely I'm guilty of it from time to time myself.
Well, in book canon, Watson could hardly have had a modern semi-automatic, since they didn't exist yet. But the times, people! Keep up with the times, and the canon you're working with!
