Arrangements made since yesterday:
1. purchase and installation of a dishwasher, and haul-away of old dishwasher which has been broken since December
2. purchase and installation of a water heater, and haul-away of old water heater which needs a repair involving a $300 backordered part. for a water heater not already at EOL I would wait, but not for one whose next trick is likely to be "...and there goes the tank" on account of being elderly.
3. estimate for repair of chimney that is leaking inside the house

Last week I made the deposit on a new garage door. They're coming out to laser measure and draw up the design Friday. Though, arguably, a new garage door will be, if not fun as such, very functional and aesthetically pleasing, which is satisfying in a way that fixing leaks isn't.

next on my The House is 120+ Years Old list is the chimney that's leaking and the whole. door and window situation. which i should have dealt with in the fall because it's gonna be like 8F this weekend and the leaky windows are VERY NOTICEABLE in cold like that.

on the other hand, it was extremely satisfying to load dishes into the dishwasher and use the hot water to make them clean!
